Water glass (aqueous colloidal solution of sodium silicate) is a proven helper for both home and professional use. It works as a primary binder for mixing fireclay adhesive mortar, is suitable for bonding fireclay elements and for repairing stoves, fireplaces, and fireboxes. Thanks to its properties, it also finds application in construction (concrete additive), the paper industry, foundries, petrochemicals, and in the production of detergents.
It is also traditionally used for pickling and preserving eggs. Water glass effectively plugs the pores of eggshells and creates an insulating layer between eggs, so that any spoiled egg won’t leak and won’t spoil the others.
