Marimex Alkalinity Plus is a pool water treatment that helps maintain a stable pH by adjusting total alkalinity. Proper alkalinity reduces pH fluctuations, limits chemical consumption, and increases the effectiveness of chlorine products, flocculants, and anti-algae agents.
Total alkalinity has a direct impact on pH stability in the pool. If alkalinity drops too low, pH can keep changing and adjusting it becomes difficult. On the other hand, if alkalinity is too high, pH is often hard to lower, combined chlorine forms more quickly, the water may smell more strongly of chlorine, and disinfection loses effectiveness.
The recommended range of total alkalinity under our conditions is 80–120 mg/l in the form of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). For a basic check, use a tester and choose the adjustment according to the measured value:
How to proceed
- Before use, measure the total alkalinity value (e.g., with a strip tester).
- If alkalinity is lower than 80 ppm, use Marimex Alkalinity Plus.
- If alkalinity is higher than 120 ppm, use a pH-lowering product (pH minus).
Dosage and application
- To increase alkalinity by 10 ppm, add 18 g of product per 1 m³ of water.
- Calculate the required amount according to the pool volume.
- Dissolve the measured powder in several liters of water and pour the solution into the pool in the area of the water inlet (or into the skimmer) with the filtration running.
- Do not increase alkalinity by more than 50 ppm in one step.
- If a larger adjustment is needed, apply the next dose only after the water has been sufficiently mixed.
